Goodbye Unwanted Snacking: Best Low-Calorie Drinks

Best Low-Calorie Drinks

There is no denying that being quarantined certainly heightens the desire to constantly snack throughout the day. It’s a natural reaction to being stuck at home with a disoriented routine on top some degree of anxiety for everyone. While you work to establish a new routine, what you might find helpful is reaching for a low-calorie drink option instead! I’m excited to share some of my favorites with you today.

Sparkling Water

There is something about a fizzy, ice-cold sparkling water that soothes the soul! My all time favorite is Topo Chico. If plain sparkles aren’t your thing, Spindrift might be a better option! The variety pack is always a fun choice, and word on the street is that they just released a killer Pineapple flavor!

Topo Chio Mineral Water

If you enjoy getting creative in the kitchen, mocktails might be a fun choice! The most simple way to make a mocktail is by adding fresh fruit and herbs to sparkling water. This is everything you need to know:

  • Other sparkling water options besides Topo Chico are San Pellegrino or Perrier
  • Fresh fruit ideas: berries, pineapple, lemon, melon
  • Fresh herb ideas: mint, basil, rosemary
  • Flavor extracts: lavender, vanilla, peppermint

Kombucha originated in China over 2,000 years ago and contributes many health benefits for the heart, brain and gut! The fermentation process of kombucha results in naturally occurring probiotics, which are healthy living bacteria beneficial to digestive healthy and immunity function!

Warning: it is difficult to find a brand without a lot of added sugar. My favorite brand is GTs and can be found at nearly any grocery store.

Zevia is the closest thing I have had to tasting a regular soda with no added sugar. It’s sweetened with stevia and the flavors are delicious! Black Cherry is my personal favorite, but I highly recommend the variety pack so you can try them all!

Iced or Hot Tea

A nice hot cup of tea can be so comforting on a chilly day and a large glass of iced tea can be just what’s missing on a hot day! Dandelion Tea and Turmeric Ginger Tea are my personal favorites, but there are TONS of different tea flavors and a lot of mind-blowing health benefits!

Loose leaf tea

I want to first mention that I believe it’s important to limit stimulant intake during stressful times. Stimulants like caffeine can trigger or heighten anxiety, and it can also cause insomnia. At a time like this, we need to be focusing on resting and recovering so we are properly caring for our immune system.

However, I am the type of person who truly loves the taste and smell of coffee! I don’t drink it just for an energy boost. If you are a fellow TRUE coffee lover (hehe), you may find comfort in brewing a nice cup of decaf!

Here are some of my favorite brands:

Or if you use K-Cups:

One more thing…

I hope you find these drink options helpful for relieving your munchies. Before I go I also want to leave you with a scripture that I find very encourage in difficult times:

I️ have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world,”

John 16:33
